ceramic coating Care
Our ceramic coatings are built to provide years of gloss and protection when properly maintained. Ceramic coatings are not scratch-proof, and proper washing is essential to maximize their lifespan.
- 3-Year Ceramic Coating:
One complimentary maintenance hand wash approximately 30 days after your coating is applied.
- 5-Year Ceramic Coating:
One complimentary hand wash, once a month during the first year. After the first year, you'll receive 50% off our Exterior Detail service for the remaining four years.
We strongly recommend avoiding automatic tunnel car washes. If hand washing isn't available, use a touchless car wash instead.
The best time to ceramic coat a vehicle is when it is brand new or after an extensive paint correction service.

Benefits Of Ceramic Coatings
Unlike wax, which fades within weeks, a true ceramic coating bonds to your paint for long-term protection and consistent gloss.
Where wax breaks down quickly, ceramic coatings maintain depth, slickness, and water-beading for years with proper care.
Regular use of a
ceramic spray coating during maintenance keeps the surface refreshed, boosting hydrophobic performance and extending the life of the ceramic coating.
It’s lasting protection — enhanced by the right upkeep.
Our Ceramic Coating Process: Quality in Every Layer
At Cross Auto Detail, we take a hands-on approach to our ceramic coating process for long-lasting results.
Step 1 - Surface Prep
The process starts with a hand wash and decontamination of the paint using iron removal and clay bar treatment to extract bonded surface contaminants.
Step 2 - Paint Correction
We perform one step paint correction and polish; removing haze, water spots, light surface scratches, or swirls to enhance clarity, depth and adhesion of the ceramic coating. In most cases, even new cars right off the lot still need this service.
Step 3 - Application
We apply the ceramic coating by hand in even layers for complete coverage and durability.
Step 4 - Curing & Inspection
Once it’s cured, we check each panel in professional lighting to ensure there is no leftover ceramic coating residue.

What Our Customers Are Saying
FAQs – Ceramic Coating Bellingham, WA
How long does ceramic coating last?
With proper hand washing and maintenance, our coatings typically 3-5 years, maintaining gloss, clarity, and protection far beyond wax or sealants. Aside from a professional grade coating, longevity depends entirely on how the vehicle is cared for, not on unrealistic coating labels.
Is ceramic coating better than waxing?
Yes, ceramic coatings bond to your paint for long-term protection and deep gloss, unlike wax, which breaks down in weeks. Coatings are hydrophobic, UV-resistant, and help prevent oxidation, etching, and staining.
Can you apply ceramic coating to older vehicles?
Absolutely. As long as the paint is in restoarable condition, we can correct and prepare it for coating. Many of our best transformations come from older vehicles that receive proper paint correction first.
What is the cure time after ceramic coating?
The coating begins curing immediately and is safe to drive after 24 hours. Full curing takes about 7 days, during which we recommend avoid washing for the best bond and durability.
Can I DIY a ceramic coating on my car?
You can, but results vary greatly. Professional installations include controlled conditions, advanced prep, and precise leveling, which most DIY environments can't replicate. A small mistake can lead to high-spotting or uneven curing. Professional application ensures even coverage, durability, and warranty-backed results.
Can I run my ceramic coated car through an automated car wash?
We do not recommend automated car washes for ceramic-coated vehicles. The brushes and harsh chemicals can cause scratches, swirls, or prematurely wear down the coating.
For best results, stick to touchless car washes or hand washes to protect your coating and maintain a glossy, smooth finish.
